Day 3
Hey All,
Today has probably been my most "normal" day in NYC. The weather has been cold and rainy, so I just kind of hung out and watched Netflix and read The Lord of The Rings (I'm determined to finish it this summer). I did go to the NYU gym to get my workout on, so I don't feel like I completely wasted the day. The most eye opening thing for me thus far has been the homeless population here in NYC. I'm not new to dealing with homeless people, becuase I've lived in downtown Saint Paul for sometime, but the way they are treated is kind of sad. A lot of the homeless people have severe mental health issues, but people just laugh, film, or refuse to make eye contact. What trips me up the most is that i'm in one of the wealthiest parts in America where people real paying upwards of 5,000 amount on rent, while some homeless dude is barely alive sleeping on their stoop. I'm not blaming this all on capitalism but it just seems that if you are rich in terms of money you're broke in terms of empathy. Tomorrow I have a busy day, I'm meeting up with my friends Steve during the day, and then i'm going to WNYC where Dessa is hosting a mixer with my good friend Astronautalis.
Best,
Nick
